Ingredients 

For the Margarita

  • 2 oz tequila blanco or silver recommended
  • 1 oz orange liqueur such as Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • 1/2 oz dragon fruit simple syrup see notes for homemade version
  • 1/2 oz lime juice freshly squeezed
  • ice for shaking and serving

For Garnish

  • granulated sugar for rimming the glass
  • 1 lime wedge for rim and garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare your serving glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into a small plate of sugar to create a sugar rim.
  • Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the tequila, orange liqueur, dragon fruit simple syrup, and fresh lime juice.
  • Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels very cold.
  • Add fresh ice to your prepared glass and strain the margarita mixture into it.
  • Garnish with a fresh lime wedge and serve immediately to enjoy.

Notes

To make homemade dragon fruit simple syrup, combine equal parts water and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, stir in 1-2 teaspoons of dragon fruit powder until you reach your desired color, and let it cool completely before use.
