Ingredients

For the Meatballs

  • 1 20 oz bag frozen homestyle meatballs or your favorite homemade meatballs

For the Asian Glaze Sauce

  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce low-sodium recommended
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar packed

For Garnish

  • green onions freshly diced
  • sesame seeds toasted, optional

Instructions

  • Arrange the frozen meatballs in an even layer across the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • Whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic powder, and packed brown sugar in a medium bowl until the sauce is smooth.
  • Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the meatballs, then gently stir to ensure each one is thoroughly coated.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook on the LOW setting for 2 to 4 hours, or on the HIGH setting for 1 to 2 hours, until the meatballs are heated through and have absorbed the flavor of the sauce.
  • Garnish with freshly diced green onions and toasted sesame seeds just before serving for a vibrant finish.

Equipment

  • Crockpot

Notes

For the best results, use homestyle frozen meatballs to avoid clashing with Italian seasonings. If making your own, consider adding minced fresh ginger and garlic to the meat. You can easily customize the sauce by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat. This recipe doubles well; simply use a larger 6-quart or 8-quart slow cooker.
