Hi, I’m Sheri — and I’m so glad you found your way here.
Let me paint you a picture. It’s a Tuesday evening. You just got home, you’re tired, maybe a little stressed, and the last thing you want is to spend two hours in the kitchen. But you also don’t want to order takeout again. You want something real. Something warm. Something that actually tastes like it came from a place with soul.
That’s exactly why I built YUMZR.

My Story
I’ve always believed that food is the best souvenir you can bring home from a trip. Not a fridge magnet. Not a keychain. A flavor — one that transports you straight back to a specific street, a specific moment, a specific feeling every single time you cook it.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel a lot. I’ve slurped noodles from a plastic stool in Bangkok at midnight. I’ve wandered into tiny, flour-dusted bakeries on the coast of Maine. I’ve shared long, loud dinners in Lisbon that started at 9pm and somehow ended at 2am. And everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve come home with something delicious rattling around in my brain, whispering “make me again.”
The problem? Most of those dishes, when you look them up, require three hours, a dozen specialty ingredients, and equipment I definitely don’t own. I’m a home cook, not a chef. And honestly? Even if I were a chef, I still wouldn’t want to spend my Tuesday evenings doing culinary gymnastics.
So I started adapting. Simplifying. Testing recipes on my own kitchen counter until I found the version that was fast enough for a weeknight but still tasted like the real thing. That process — finding the flavor, then making it easy — became what YUMZR is all about.
What You’ll Find Here
Every recipe on this site has been made in a real home kitchen, with real supermarket ingredients, by a real person who also has emails to answer and laundry to ignore.
You’ll find everything from 20-minute dinners to show-stopping desserts that look far more impressive than the effort they actually require. I have a particular soft spot for Asian-inspired dishes, anything involving garlic (the more the better), and baked goods that make your whole kitchen smell incredible.
What you won’t find here are recipes with 47 steps, obscure ingredients you’ll use once and forget about, or any pretense that cooking needs to be complicated to be worthwhile. Life is short. Dinner should be delicious and doable.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not in the kitchen or on a plane, I’m probably at a farmers market, deep in a cookbook I’ll never follow exactly as written, or trying to convince someone to try a dish they’re skeptical about. (I usually win.)
I started YUMZR because I couldn’t find a recipe blog that felt like me — one that took flavor seriously without taking itself too seriously. I wanted a place that felt like getting cooking advice from a well-traveled friend, not a lecture from a professional kitchen.
I’m so happy you’re here. Now — let’s make something delicious.
— Sheri
